How to Choose a Credit Repair Company

How to Choose a Credit Repair Company

Business for online credit repair companies are at an all time high. How do you know that they are legitimate? What should you look for in services?

Instructions

    1

If you feel overwhelmed with your credit situation like most Americans, a credit repair company may be able to help with your situation. Take the time to first pull your Credit report yourself and determine if the problem is one for which you will need professional assistance.

    2

Do your research. Do not give your money to the first credit repair company that comes up in your Google search. Take the time to look at the information provided for each company. Read their website thoroughly and request information from them such as brochures that outline their services and prices.

    3

Stay away from promises to raise your FICO score in large amounts in a small amount of time. In some cases it is possible to raise your FICO score quickly. However, the largest increase is seen after 60-120 days.

    4

Stay away from companies who promise you will never need to worry about your score again. This is NOT TRUE. Your credit score always changes. Maintaining a good FICO score takes discipline not quick fix schemes.

    5

Look for a company that has a customer service department. You need to speak to a PERSON and not an automated voice. A company that will allow you to monitor your progress online is also desirable but not required.

    6

Stay away from any company who has hidden offers and costs involved in their service. If it looks to good to be true, then more than likely it is. RUN!

    7

Lastly, look for a company can offer services to help you maintain your FICO score. Credit repair should seek to empower you to move forward.
