How to Request to Obtain My Credit History Report

How to Request to Obtain My Credit History Report

Your credit report is one of your most important financial documents. It consists of a detailed list of your credit history, such as account information, whether you have any current debt, any accounts that were in collections, or any loans you have applied for or taken out. By federal law, you may request a free copy of your credit history each year from the three major bureaus: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

Instructions

    1

Go to www.annualcreditreport.com and select your state in the drop-down menu.

    2

Enter the personal information requested in the form that appears, including your name, address and Social Security number.

    3

Answer the security questions when prompted. The questions will be related to accounts you may or may not have on the report.

    4

Choose the credit report(s) that you want to view from the list that appears.
