How to Find All Delinquent Bills You Owe

If you're ready to get a handle on your personal budget, one of the first steps is to identify and list all of your bills. Taking care of delinquent accounts is a top priority, but first you have to figure out the amounts due and number of days late. You can order them and pay them off strategically. Depending on the type of accounts you have, you may have to do a little research to get all of the bill information down in one place.

Instructions

    1

Gather all of your mailed statements and bills. Sort the mail, toss junk and pile up all of your billing statements for open accounts.

    2

List all of your utility accounts, including phone, cable, water and electric. Call each utility company to find out if you are delinquent and, if so, by how many days.

    3

Request a credit check from all three credit bureaus: Experian, Transunion and Equifax. Each consumer is allowed one free check from the three major bureaus every year. Your credit report lists all of your open and charged-off credit accounts. It also indicates all current delinquencies (number of days overdue, monthly payment amount and running balance). This is the most reliable way to get a comprehensive list of what you owe.

    4

Review your bank statements from the past year to identify additional accounts you may have missed.
