How to Smooth Out a Paper Receipt

How to Smooth Out a Paper Receipt

During a shopping trip, you may purchase something and later realize you want to exchange it for a different size or color. You may also just want to return your item for a refund. Some stores will exchange your items without a sales receipt; however, most stores require the receipt before processing a refund. Receipts are easy to misplace because they are small pieces of paper that you may accidentally crumple up or put in a hard-to-find location. If you find your receipt and it's in a crumpled ball, you may want to smooth it out before taking it back to the store.

Instructions

    1

Lay the towel flat on the ironing board, plug the iron into the outlet and turn it on to a medium heat setting.

    2

Dip your fingertips in the water and sprinkle a few drops on the back of the receipt. Be sure not to put too much water on your hand or submerge the receipt in the water because the water may blur or remove the ink from the receipt.

    3

Place the receipt on the towel and cover it with the other end of the towel.

    4

Put the iron on the towel and move it in a back-and-forth motion to allow the steam to smooth out the receipt. Keep your iron moving and use light to medium pressure on the towel during ironing. Continue until the receipt is completely smooth.

    5

Turn off and unplug the iron.
