Since your credit report is a reflection of your payment history, make sure it represents an accurate picture. While most major creditors supply information to credit-reporting agencies, smaller creditors usually do not. Consider a few easy steps to take to add an unreported account to the three major credit-reporting agencies.
Instructions
- 1
First, get your most current credit report by going online to AnnualCreditReport.com. AnnualCreditReport.com is the official site to obtain your free online credit reports from the three nationwide credit reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.
2Next, contact your creditor to request that your account and payment history be added to all of the credit-reporting agencies. Provide the creditor with the bureaus' contact information, as well as a record of your payment history and any required personal information. Make it as easy as possible for your creditor to add your account.
3Finally, contact each of the three credit-reporting agencies to request that your unreported debt be added to your credit file. Provide copies of substantiating documentation---never send originals. Keep copies of all correspondence and receipts.
