Verified by Visa is a program offered by Visa which allows the cardholder to add an extra layer of security to her purchase by creating a "verified by Visa" password. Visa also works with merchant sites to declare that they are reputable companies. These companies will have the "verified by Visa" logo on their webpage. This gives the consumer confidence in what he is purchasing and cuts down on credit and debit card fraud.
