Look at the back of your card and locate the toll-free number for checking balances.

Call the number. Listen for a prompt for getting your gift card balance. Make sure you have your card in front of you or a piece of paper with the number on the front of the card written down.

Push the button on your phone that corresponds with the gift card balance prompt. You will be asked to enter in the card number followed by the star or pound key. Enter in your card number.

Listen and record your balance. After you enter in the number of your gift card, your balance will be told to you over the phone. Write the balance down and keep track of what you spend on the card.
