Equifax is one of the three credit reporting bureaus in the United States. Equifax gathers various credit reporting data from different sources, such as banks and credit card companies, and sets up a credit file for consumers in the United States. In addition to offering copies of consumer credit reports, the company offers other services such as credit report monitoring. If you need to contact Equifax for any reason there are a few different ways to go about it.

Determine your reason for needing to contact Equifax. Equifax offers several different services and, therefore, has different avenues for contact depending on the reason. Some common reasons include contacting Equifax to get a copy of your credit report, to place a fraud alert, to dispute something in your credit report, to ask a question about a service from Equifax, or to opt out of their mailing list.
2Contact Equifax for a copy of your credit report. To request a copy of your credit report from Equifax you can make a phone call or order it online. To order by phone you will need to call Equifax at 1-800-685-1111. If you want to place your order online you will need to visit the Equifax website (see Resources). If you have been denied credit and are entitled to a free credit report from Equifax you will visit a different website (see Resources).
3Opt out of mailing lists. If you want to contact Equifax to get off of their mailing lists you can only do that by phone. Call Equifax at 1-888-567-8688 to opt out of their mailing lists.
4Place a fraud alert on your credit report. To contact Equifax to place a fraud alert on your credit report you can call them or make the request online. To place the fraud alert by phone you will need to call 1-888-766-0008. To place the fraud alert online you will need to visit the Equifax Fraud alert website (see Resources).
5Ask questions about a service. If you want to contact Equifax to ask a question about a service that you bought from them you can only do that by logging into the member center on the Equifax website. Click on "Member Center Login" to log into your account. Then click on "Contact Us" to send them an email or to get a special phone number for assistance, which is 1-866-640-2273. You can reach customer service on this number between 8am and 3pm Eastern time any day of the week.
6Dispute something on your credit report. To dispute something on your Equifax credit report you will need to visit the Equifax online dispute center. If you have a hard copy of your Equifax credit report you can mail in your request to the address on the credit report, which is P.O. Box 740241, Atlanta, GA 30374.
7Contact Equifax by mail. If you have another concern or just wish to contact Equifax by mail you can send your correspondence to Equifax at P.O. Box 740241, Atlanta, GA 30374.
