How to Calculate Unemployment Benefits in Georgia

The amount of money that you get as a weekly unemployment benefit amount in Georgia is based on how much money you earned during your base period. The base period is the first four calendar quarters of the past five calendar quarters. Calendar quarters are three-month periods starting with January each year. As of December 2010, the minimum weekly benefit amount you can receive in Georgia is $44, and the maximum weekly benefit amount you can receive is $330. These rates have been in place since July 2007.

    Gather up all of your paycheck stubs and W-2s from all of your jobs in the past 18 months.

    Use the paycheck stubs and W-2s to calculate how much money you earned in each of the calendar quarters for your base period.

    Visit the Unemployment Benefits website (see Resources) and enter in the money you earned in each quarter in the benefits calculator. Press "Calculate My Benefit" to see your estimated Georgia weekly unemployment benefit amount.
