How to Cancel CIC Credit Report Monitoring

How to Cancel CIC Credit Report Monitoring

CIC credit report monitoring is a paid monthly service that allows you to view and monitor your credit reports online. This particular service is usually initiated with signing up for a free credit report at FreeCreditReport.com. However, many people who sign up for a free credit report are only interested in obtaining a free credit report and not this paid service. If this is the case, it is important that you cancel the CIC credit report monitoring during the trial period so you are not charged for the service. Doing so is easy, and requires just a few quick steps.

Instructions

    1

Gather all the information you will need to cancel your account. This will include your customer number, social security number, the credit card number you used to sign up for the service and possibly additional details about your credit history that will be used to verify your identity. Make sure you have all this information readily available before you make the call.

    2

Call CIC Triple Advantage at (877) 481-6826. Please note that in order to effectively cancel your account, you must call this number in lieu of writing or emailing. When the CIC representative answers, be sure to write down his name and tell him that you would like to cancel the credit monitoring service.

    3

Be polite, yet persistent. The representative may try to talk you into staying with the service or get you to sign up for additional services. If you are not interested in this, be sure to clearly communicate that from the very beginning and be persistent in asking for the cancellation.

    4

Get a cancellation confirmation number. This will serve as proof that you did call and cancel the service so you will not incur future fees.
