How to Send Checks by Post

How to Send Checks by Post

Sending checks through the postal service is becoming a lost way of life as more and more people learn how to send electronic checks or pay online. With the price of stamps seeming to increase yearly, it only makes sense that people look for cheaper alternative methods to send money. However, you should still be prepared to send a paper check because not all companies accept electronic checks and not everybody is comfortable with electronic banking.

Instructions

    1

Fill out the check. On the top, right side of the check, fill in the date. Below the date, there is usually a line that says "Payable to the order of." Write the name of the person or company who will be cashing the check. Write the dollar amount in the empty box or space at the end of the "Payable to the order of" line. On the next line, spell out the dollar amount you are paying. Briefly outline the purpose of the check in the memo line. Sign the bottom, right corner of the check.

    2

Place the check in an envelope. Seal the envelope. Place a stamp on the top, right corner of the envelope.

    3

Write your postal information on the top, left corner of the envelope. Write your name. Below your name, write your address information, including street, city, state and zip code.

    4

Specify the destination address. Write the name of the person or company. Starting on the next line, write the complete postal address, including street and post office box, city, state and zip code.

    5

Place the envelope in a blue mail box, take it to the post office or hang it out of your mailbox for the mailman to pick up. If you have a mailbox with a red flag, adjust the flag so that it points up toward the sky.
