How to Stop Unsolicited Credit Card Offers

Do you find yourself throwing out a lot of unwanted credit card offers? If so, consider taking steps to prevent the offers from reaching your mail box in the first place. It's not hard to do. The benefits include saving time sorting your mail, removing the temptation to apply for more credit cards than you need and even saving a few trees. You can remove yourself from the mailing lists for all "pre-screened" credit cards by making one phone call, visiting one website or sending one piece of mail.

Instructions

    1

Stop all pre-screened credit card offers for five years by calling (888) 5-OPTOUT (567-8688). Be prepared to give your name, address, social security number and date of birth.

    2

Another way to stop the offers for five years is to go to the OptOutPrescreen.com website and fill out the short form there.

    3

To stop the offers permanently, go to the OptOutPrescreen.com website, print out the form, fill it out, sign it and send it in via snail mail.

    4

Expect to wait up to 60 days before you stop receiving all credit card offers.

    5

Revisit OptOutPrescreen.com or call (888) 5-OPTOUT at any time if you change your mind and want to start receiving the offers again.
