How to Check a Credit Line

Each line of credit will have different terms. These can include interest rates, payment amounts, due dates, late fees and length of repayment. Your lines of credit may include credit cards, personal loans, installment loans, a home equity line of credit and store accounts. You may have times when you need to inquire about specific items regarding your lines of credit. You can ask your lenders questions about the balance due, payoff amount, due dates, interest rates, payoff date and any other matters regarding your account.

Instructions

    1

Look on your statements to find the customer service number. Call the number and follow the prompts to speak to a live agent. In some cases, your question may be answered by the automated system. Many automated systems will give you the chance to hear your balance, the last payment received and the due date of the next payment.

    2

Ask the customer service agent the questions you have regarding your line of credit. An agent should have all the terms of your agreement available to her and should be able to answer any question. If not, ask to speak to someone who can help you.

    3

Write down the information you received so you don't forget it and can reference it later. Make note of the time you called and the person you spoke with. This can help in the future if there are any problems with the information.
