Organizations to Help People Get Out of Debt

Organizations to Help People Get Out of Debt

Are you struggling with paying a debt and looking for help? Organizations are available that help people get out of debt. Once you contact one of these organizations, it will assess your situation and possibly offer you free credit debt counseling to help your financial situation. If you qualify for further assistance, you may participate in a debt management plan that eventually eliminates your debts.

American Financial Solutions

American Financial Solutions is a nonprofit agency that provides credit counseling as well as financial education. Its home office is located in the state of Washington, and it is a member of the Association of Independent Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies. It offers credit counseling services over the phone, Monday through Saturday, during its office hours. There are no fees for its education and counseling services. The agency also offers a debt management plan that will consolidate all of your debts into one monthly payment, allowing you to pay off your debt at a faster rate. If you want to enroll in one of its debt management plans, you will have to pay the setup fee and a monthly maintenance fee in an amount determined by your state's laws governing nonprofit agencies.

National Foundation for Credit Counseling

Based in Maryland, the National Foundation for Credit Counseling is a nonprofit network with more than 100 member agencies. Consumers can get services from any of its 850 offices throughout the country. If you want help getting out of debt, you can talk to one of its certified consumer credit counselors. He will advise you on how to manage your money, offer possible solutions to your financial problems and develop a personalized plan to help prevent financial difficulties in the future. For consumers that have severe debt, the agency offers a debt management plan in which you pay down your debt in one consolidated payment each month. Once the debt is paid, you will also receive help in reestablishing your credit.

You can contact the nonprofit agency for help through its toll-free numbers or receive in-person counseling at one of its 16 offices. If their clients require more help, they may qualify for a debt management plan that will help pay off their debts and improve their credit scores.
