How to Enter Vouchers for Unemployment

In some states, such as Indiana, the bi-weekly or weekly unemployment claim certification form is referred to as a voucher instead of a claim form. This means that you must complete vouchers in order to receive unemployment benefits. Methods for entering in unemployment vouchers vary by state, with most states offering more than one option for claimants. Most states offer online filing for weekly or bi-weekly vouchers. Regardless of the way you enter in your voucher, the information needed for the voucher is still the same.

Instructions

    1

Visit the unemployment agency website to enter your voucher online, such as via the Uplink service for Indiana unemployment vouchers. A video tutorial may available for viewing on the site, if this is your first time entering in your voucher electronically. If you have received a claimant handbook in the mail, it typically includes directions for submitting the voucher electronically.

    2

Answer the series of questions on the voucher about your work search efforts, availability for work and if you have earned any money during the certification period. The questions are all "yes" or "no" questions. For some questions, answering "yes" means that you must fill in extra information on the provided lines.

    3

Review your answers on the summary screen to make certain you have answered all the questions properly. Once you are satisfied with the answers, submit the voucher. Typically a confirmation number appears on the screen, which you should write down for reference. Once your voucher is entered, you can expect your benefits payment within 10 days.
